Reading Blog

What I found interesting in this reading is how different net.art is from physical artworks. The lines of 'what is considered art' are so blurred here but I think the works that come from the internet have a lot of socio-political meaning; Especially the works of the females exploring feminist issues. What I like about net.art is that it is a response to the workings of the internet. A strong example of this would be Paul Garrins, Name.Space. He took an issue on the internet and provided an alternative of domains to weed out large corporations from monopolizing the internet. The monopolization of the internet will always be something thats its users have to fight back. The internet allows for other voices to be heard and ideas to be exchanged with one another. Something that surprised me was how early net.art became adopted as a concept in the timeline of the invention of computers. It seemed pretty immediate how people responded to the internet.
